Shakespeare Parodies

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the photos and videos in the following slide show. Please refer to “Works Cited” for the links of the websites that posted them.

This is a collection of parodies of Shakespeare and his plays. A parody is traditionally seen as a work which  mocks, ridicules and/or makes fun of the original work. It is interesting though that despite being considered as “the greatest writer of the English language”,  who is loved and admired by many, Shakespeare and  his plays have been the subject of countless parodies in music, film, animation, literature, and theater.

I’m pretty glad i checked out your prezi and found the Blackadder parody of Shakespeare. I don’t know why i wasn’t able to stumble upon that previously.

Personally, i love the flood of Shakespeare parodies there are in media. I’ve always believed that people take the bard too seriously. I’m of the belief that the man enjoyed lewd humor more than pretentious drama.
